A great hallmark of mental wellness is the ability to be in the present moment, fully and with no thoughts of being elsewhere.”

— Wayne Dyer

Here is another in our series of “Bea Attitudes.”

Everyone talks about the power and importance of being present.

Yet few ever accomplish it fully.

Intellectually we understand the need in business and life to be present where we are and who we are with to create meaningful relationships.

We need to be fully invested in our connections if we want to drive loyalty and harness the power of partnerships to achieve success and happiness.

And yet most of us are distracted still.

We are consumed by the past and obsessed with the future and mostly miss where we are right now.

Leaving the door open for someone else to own those moments instead.

Aunt Bea is a master at being present. Fully immersed in every moment with her guests.

When she was with us, she made us feel like the only people in the park. Her only priority. Her reason for coming to work that day.

Do you make the people in your world feel like they are your only priority? Your reason for showing up in the first place?

I hope you do.

That was Aunt Bea’s secret ingredient. That thing that is nearly indescribable and always non-negotiable for heroes.

Bea is uncompromising in her focus on creating better outcomes for the people around her.

She listens.

She writes things down.

Her eyes never drift to her phone or another conversation.

She makes you feel important.

She cares.

Then she executes.

She over-delivers with delight.

Every time.

When you show up and focus squarely on the present moment you are in a position to really make a difference.

I know, “making a difference” is cliche. But isn’t that what we’re after?

I promise you, the people you serve and serve with want you to make a difference.

They want your full attention.

They want you to do something extraordinary.

They are hoping you exceed their expectations or at least meet them with great enthusiasm (which would actually exceed most).

This week I want to encourage you to live in every moment fully present and accounted for.

Be your best in every encounter.

Give others the gift of you.

And leave them wanting more.

Wishing you the best week ever.

10 Lessons on Winning: #8 You Are the Competition — You Are Only as Good as Your Last Performance

I was blessed to have a great corporate career. I came from the franchise world, and the last 20 years of my career I was in disaster restoration. A good fit for someone who had created many disasters and was in need of restoration. And redemption. I worked my way to the c-suite in a […]

10 Lessons on Winning: #7 How You Win Matters

After a short hiatus, I’m back this week with another installment in our series on winning. Back in the day, I was a little league baseballer. I played shortstop. And I was good too. They called me “hoover” because I could vacuum up any ball hit my way. I was also good with the bat. […]

No matter how successful or accomplished you are, there is always another level. In business. In sports. In life. Your big, crazy, monster goal is someone else’s minimum standard to play the game. You make a million this year. Others might say that was a good month. Make a billion. Then there’s Elon, Bezos, and […]
