Victory is at Hand

Sacrifice is the gateway to victory.”

— Kevin D. Brown

This week we are going to take a break from the Aunt Bea Attitudes, to share a few thoughts on the topic of sacrifice.

“Will the use of my day, outlive my day?”

That’s something my mentor used to say to me.

He would push me and challenge me.

Always.

He was adamant about doing something every day that mattered in the long run.

Not just in the short term.

He would ask, “Will your life be worthwhile or simply a waste of time?”

He was direct.

Honest.

Intentional.

He understood the power of sacrifice.

He would say, “Nothing significant can happen without sacrifice!”

No championship.

No trophy.

No ring.

No accolades.

From parenting to purpose. To passion and profits.

Sacrifice is at the heart of everything that matters.

You must be willing to let go of something in the present in order to grab a hold of what awaits you in the future.

You must be willing to do the work.

Even when the victory seems elusive.

Even when it doesn’t make sense.

Even when you want to quit.

Sacrifice is about something bigger than you.

It’s about believing in something that others can’t see but you know is possible.

It’s about doing something that others won’t do in order to give birth to something others will never have.

Sacrifice is what parents do.

It’s what leaders do.

It’s what world changers do.

They sacrifice the hours.

They endure perceptions.

They give their blood, sweat, and tears to achieve greatness.

They face criticism.

And ridicule.

They rise above the opinions of others.

All for something they know has life-changing implications.

They are willing to sacrifice themselves when everything is on the line.

When life itself hangs in the balance, they are willing to be the one who steps up and says I am ready.

I am willing.

What will you sacrifice this week to create a better tomorrow for yourself and those around you?

What can you let go of in order to grasp something new?

Something better.

What can you sacrifice for others that will make life better for them?

I encourage you this week to do the work.

Put in extra time.

Do more reps.

Create your own opportunities.

Victory is at hand.

Go get it.
